Bishop Peter Fenty leads our Choral Eucharist worship on this First Sunday in Lent, March 9, 2025. Our Lay Assistant and Intercessor is Jim Hodder. The lessons are read by Kamma Thompson (The Book of Deuteronomy 26:1-11) and Hugh Thompson (The Letter to the Romans 10:8b-13), and the Gospel is from Luke (4:1-13). Zach cantors the verses to Psalm 91:1-2, 9-16, while the congregation responds with, “He shall give his angels charge over you”, from the George Black setting. Our hymns this week: ‘What Does the Lord Require’ (#171 in Common Praise); ‘The Glory of These Forty Days”; and, ”Forty Days and Forty Nights’ (#175). Services during Lent begin with a silent procession. All are invited to the hall for refreshments and conversation following Zach’s Postlude.
