Bishop Peter Fenty leads our Choral Eucharist Service on this Third Sunday of Advent, December 15, 2024, with Music Director Zacharia Dekker, and Lay Reader and Intercessor Audi Geadah Ogley. The service begins with ‘The Lighting of the Advent Candle’. The lessons are read by Chris Cox (The Book of Zephaniah 3:14-20) and Todd Hillhouse (The Letter to the Philippians 4:47). Zach cantors the verses to Canticle 3 (‘Song of Thanksgiving’ – Isaiah 12:2-6), while the congregation responds with, “Ring out your joy, for the Holy One of Israel is in your midst”, from the George Black setting. The Gospel is from Luke (3:7-18). Our hymns this week: ‘Herald! Sound the Note of Judgement’ (Common Praise #111); ‘Jesus Came, the Heavens Adoring’ (#97); ‘Now, My Tongue, the Mystery Telling’ (#50); and, ‘You Servants of the Lord’ (#93). All are invited to the hall for refreshments and conversation following Zach’s Postlude.
