Bishop Peter Fenty leads our Choral Eucharist Service on this First Mass of Christmas, Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024, with Music Director Zacharia Dekker, Lay Reader and Intercessor Audi Geadah Ogley, and Crucifer Kirk Hearder. The service begins with the Processional Hymn, the Blessing of the Crèche, followed by the Lighting of the Christmas Candle. The lessons are read by Greg Finlayson (The Book of Isaiah 9:2-7) and Carol McLean (Paul’s Letter to Titus 2:11-14). Zach cantors the verses to Psalm 96, while the congregation responds with, “All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God”, from the George Black setting. The Gospel is from Luke (2:1-14). Our hymns this Christmas Eve: ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’ (Common Praise #118); ‘The First Nowell’ (#139); and, ‘Joy to the World’ (#154). During Communion the choir sings the anthem, “Who On Earth Could Know”, by Valerie McKenzie.
