This recording of the service has been created from backup audio and video when a technical issue at 7:33 minutes into the lead-in to the service interrupted the broadcast.
Reverend Canon Stephanie Pellow leads our Choral Eucharist Service on this Second Sunday of Advent, December 8, 2024, with Music Director Zacharia Dekker, and Lay Assistant and Intercessor Jim Hodder. The service begins with ‘The Lighting of the Advent Candle’. The lessons are read by Greg Finlayson (The Book of Malachi 3:1-4) and Carol McLean (The Letter to the Philippians 1:3-11). Zach cantors the verses to Canticle 19 (Song of Zechariah – Luke 1:68-79), while the congregation responds with, “The dawn from on high shall break upon us,” from the George Black setting. The Gospel is from Luke (3:1-6). Our hymns this week: ‘Hark, a Herald Voice is Sounding’ (Common Praise #108); ‘There’s a Voice in the Wilderness’ (#106); ‘Prepare the Way’ (#107); and, ‘On Jordan’s Bank, the Baptist’s Cry’ (#103). All are invited to the hall for refreshments and conversation following Zach’s Postlude.
