“Have Your Sabbath”, the title of Archdeacon Elizabeth Hardy’s homily for this Eleventh Sunday in Pentecost, is based in today’s Gospel according to Luke [13:10-17] in which the leader of the synagogue becomes indignant when Jesus undertakes to cure a woman (and therefore to work) on the sabbath. The importance of our taking the time — on whichever day, and for however long — to “rest in God” is the central theme of Elizabeth’s message. August 25, 2019
